My Latest Ride

The plan was to go out on a 100km cycle around the outskirts of Reading on my mountain bike. I expected to take about 3 hours 30 mins but it didn't exactly turn out that way. I'm not all that familiar with the area and got lost somewhere around Newbury. I was cycling for 5 hours, I was lost, it was dark and I was very very hungry. Not exactly what I had in mind but some good training nonetheless. At least I'm starting to get some long rides in now and that's the most important thing.

As far as my other training goes, swimming is coming along nicely, recently I've been doing two sessions a week of roughly 2 to 3 km. Running is still non existant. Went for a quick 5km the other day but felt a litle twinge so stopped immediately. I'm keeping up with my physio so fingers crossed for the Wokingham Half Marathon.

Injury Update

I still haven't been able to run since my injury in late December which is starting to worry me somewhat since I have the Wokingham Half Marathon in February. If I don't feel better I will not risk running the race with the chance of doing long term damage but I really hope that I can take part.

My training has been ticking over, I've been forced to put in some long sessions on the turbo trainer as whenever I have time to go for a ride outside it's always snowing or pissing it down. Swimming is going well and I've been doing lot's of strength work which seems to be paying off. I'm keeping a detailed training log so I might put some more detailed information of what I have been doing on here at a later date.

Wish me luck with the injury!

Sports-Where

I have recently begun working at a brand new online and mobile sports store called Sports-Where and they have kindly agreed to support me at Challenge Copenhagen and throughout 2010. They're a great company who sell a wide range of goods from triathlon gear to football boots and badminton rackets. Go to www.sportswhere.co.uk for more information and look out for us at your events this year!

Spiz nutrition

I am absolutely delighted that Spiz nutrition have decided to support me for Challenge Copenhagen and throughout 2010. I've been using Spiz for a while now and really notice the difference compared with other energy drinks, so much so that I would never drink anything else. Spiz is an American company so most of you probably haven't heard of it but people have used it to win the Race Across America and other ultra distance events. It's a complete energy drink containing carbs, protein and electrolytes. This really is the best stuff on the market and I am very fortunate to have them as my sponsors. If anyone is interested in trying Spiz let me know as I am the UK distributor. You can also get free samples from their website so you may as well give it a go, you definately won't regret it. For more information go to www.spiz.net or contact me.
